Slaby Residence
This proejct is a remodel of a rural ranch house.  Like most homes, the driveway (an entry experience) was focused on the garage - not the beautiful grove of redwoods the house is nestled in.  With the addition of new stone walls, reorganization of the driveway and new path from the driveway to the front porch, the experience is transformed from mundane to sublime as one is dwarfed by the redwoods on their way to the porch.  A drainage problem was remade as a dry creek with undulating planters, and an unused back deck was replaced with a deck better accessed from the house as well as a pool raised to and integrated into the deck.  The new deck and pool rise above the rural setting - displaying it - and remain firmly connected to the house.  Our innovative pool cover track detail hides the track between large stone tiles on the inside of the pool.  A perfect solution for a pristine rural setting.
