Abrams Residence
Imagine Sonoma's scope for this small, straw-bale second home included connecting the already-built house, trellis and pool with the surrounding woods.  New stone walls and rows of grasses reach out toward the forest to subtly shape spaces that become more and more defined closer to the house.  The simple, local materials reflect the intended use of the home: a peaceful getaway that is decidedly and thoughtfully man-made yet has minimal impact on its surroundings.
